#37. Napoleon Hornbuckle
Napoleon Hornbuckle is a retired (2002)Corporate Officer (General Manager) for Motorola, Incorporated. As General Manager, he was responsible for all phases of acquisition and execution of programs for The Department of Defense and NASA. He led the Space Division of Motorola in receiving the Goddard Space Flight Center Excellence Award for quality and productivity, and formed a joint venture between Automotive Group of Motorola and the Government Group, which led to a major business growth area for the Corporation.
Napoleon attended TSU from 1960 – 1964 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. From 1966-1968, he performed Post Graduate Course Study Work at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.
In 1991, Napoleon was the recipient of the Black Engineer of the Year Professional Achievement Award. He received recognition as the TSU Outstanding Electrical Engineer Alum in 1995
Napoleon is a member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity and a Life Member of both the NAACP and the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. This Providence Missionary Baptist Church (Atlanta, Georgia) member is past Board Member of the Greater Phoenix Urban League (Phoenix, Arizona) and past Board Member of the Maricopa Community College Foundation (Phoenix, Arizona). He presently serves as Treasurer for the Bill Dickey Golf Scholarship Foundation.
Napoleon resides with his wife, Dorothy. They have two adult children: Scott and Vance.
