THE TSU CoETCS 'MIGHTY 100'
PROFILE OF EXCELLENCE
Regina E. Weaver Hill
Regina received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a Minor in Environmental Engineering from the Tennessee State University College of Engineering & Technology in 1986. In 1997, as a Graduate Fellow, she received a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Engineering Management from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville. An active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Kappa Omega Chapter), she’s also a member of The National Society of Black Engineers, The Society of Allied Weight Engineers, the Tennessee State University National Alumni Association, along with TSU’s Atlanta, Engineering and Band Alumni Association chapters.
Regina has had a varied engineering career from an initial appointment as a Civil Engineer to the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers-Construction Division responsible for the progress of construction on flood control projects, the Tennessee Department of Environment Conservation as an Environmental Engineer II monitoring and providing technical assistance to determine the cost effectiveness & adequacy of design for Wastewater Treatment Plants, the Tennessee Department of Transportation-Structures Division as a Structures Specialist 2, responsible for the structural design and review of bridges, interchanges and special structures, to finally transitioning to the Aeronautics Industry in 1998 by moving to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Marietta. At Lockheed Martin she began as an Engineer Senior in the Mass Properties Department performing aircraft mass properties analysis for the C-130J Modification & P-3/S-3 Modernization programs, and supported the initial efforts on the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Program providing Durability and Damage Tolerance Analysis (DADTA) on the Short Takeoff/Vertical Landing (STOVL) version of the aircraft. Presently, as an Aeronautics Engineer Staff in the C-5 Structural Integrity Group, she performs structural analysis including Static Strength and DADTA on the aircraft.
Regina is a native Atlantan and has been happily married to Joshua Hill, Jr., who also graduated from the Tennessee State University College of Engineering & Technology, for 18 years.
My CoETCS experience has prepared me to be successful in my career in many ways, but I think the basic foundation given to me through the stringent requirements of taking every course offered in my major field, plus one course in each of the other disciplines, by far helped to make me more knowledgeable & competitive than entry level engineering candidates from other major universities.
The Importance of the TSU CoETCS Alumni Endowment allows me the opportunity to “pay it forward”. When students are burdened with the circumstance of continuing to search out sources for the necessary funds to remain in school it can be very stressful, so I believe this endowment will enable our deserving students to pursue & complete their engineering degrees without that additional stress.
