THE TSU CoETCS 'MIGHTY 100'
PROFILE OF EXCELLENCE
Thomas Holloway
Thomas F. Holloway, Jr. graduated from TSU in 1966 with a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering after transferring in 1964 from Tuskegee University's school of Electrical Engineering. After acquiring his undergraduate degree, he immediately went to work for Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida in their Electronics and Space division as a design engineer. He was responsible for several crucial designs of components used on the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) as part of project Apollo, man's first moon lander in 1969.
His fascination with space travel led him to participate as a design engineer on other projects such as the development of the Apollo Command module (phase II) and pre-Space Shuttle designs while employed at General Electric Corporation in Downey, California. Also, the Mariner Space Probe used to explore the planet Mars while employed at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas.
For the last 34+ years he has been employed as a Senior Group Engineer at Lockheed Martin Fire Control Systems in Orlando, Florida. His work here included the design and development of special test verification equipment used to certify the functionality of various fire control and missile control systems developed at the company.
After returning to Florida, Thomas pursued and received his MBA degree with an emphasis in engineering management from Florida Institute of Technology in 1982. He is married with two children. In his leisure time he enjoys teaching technical and computer oriented courses at the local university and community colleges in the area. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and I.E.E.E.
"The CoETCS" provided me with the necessary tools from a educational standpoint to compete in the workplace after graduation. This was never more apparent to me until I entered the corporate world and discovered that the preparations that I received from TSU were at a very superior level to do any assigned task. The interpersonal skills that I received also were second to none.
"The TSU CoETCS" alumni endowment is an extremely important entity in the development of future engineering talent for the corporate world. It's importance to me is that it provides a mechanism for engineering alumni to give back to the source of their development so that the future of engineering talent from the university is secure.
