TSUEAA CHAPTER'S REPORT

The Engineering Alumni Association (EAA) was charted on November 4, 1995. The chartering ceremony held at the Thomas Payne Engineering Building and was conducted by the President of the TSU National Alumni Association, Mrs. Mary Adams. Dr. Decatur Rogers, Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology (CETT), CET faculty, several EAA charter members, friends and guests were on hand for the ceremony.

Immediately after the ceremony, the first business meeting was held. During this meeting the election of officers were held. The following officers were elected and then inducted into office for a two year term by President Adams:

Vacant - Recording Secretary
Candyce Love - Financial Secretary
Rhonda Thomas - Treasurer
James Harris, Esq. - Parliamentarian

The Bylaws of EAA were voted on and accepted as presented.

The current membership stands at 26. There are twenty-four are charter members and two regular members. Membership into EAA is opened to alumni of the CET, students in attendance at CET, or persons working to promote engineering education in the CET.

A plague was presented to Dean Rogers CET which contains the names of the charter members. This plague will hang in the main hallway of the CET building. It was voted on to continue to accept charter members up until on next business which will be held during the Homecoming weekend.

The purpose of the EAA shall be: (1) promote engineering education at the University; (2) unite the members in close fellowship to promote the general welfare of the CET and of the University at large; (3) stimulate interest among prospective students and to obtain the best possible students as candidates for admission to the University; (4) foster activities of the engineering organization recognized by the University; and (5) advance the profession of Engineering.

Short term goals for the year include sending out letters to prospective members, submitting articles to the various alumni and student publications, developing an EAA newsletter, and designing an EAA brochure. In addition, EAA along with the CET will sponsor a reception or dinner for each graduating class from the CET.

The EAA officers are planning on attend the National Convention in June.

The TSU College of Engineering, Technology, and Computer Science (CoETCS) was founded in 1951 to develop outstanding minority students to lead in the fields of engineering, technology, aeronautics, computer science, and research.  The TSU Engineering Alumni Association was founded on November 3, 1995 to support the mission of the CoETCS. The TSUEAA welcomes all who presently attend, have attended or have graduated from the TSU CoETCS to become members of the association, to support and further the mission of the college, regardless of degree field, age, sex, race, or nationality.  All TSU faculty, staff or others who have not graduated from TSU and manifests a genuine interest in the promotion of the TSUEAA are eligible for Associate Membership.  Associate Membership carries with it all rights of deliberation and committee assignments.  For membership information go to www.tsuengeralumni.org
